Voter Suppression and us.

On the best work progressives can do, Dave Mulryan: “Republicans have systemically set out to stop Democrats from voting, using an integrated strategy that uses the courts, the registration process, and actual voting to make voting difficult. The gutting of the Voting Rights Act was a huge part of this strategy. Democrats have responded very meekly to this Republican led assault on voting. We Democrats need to fight, fight for people’s right to vote, to get people to the polls, to have an adequate number polling places, to have more early voting. Voting is the absolute purview of the states, and Republicans have, with great success, used the elections of State Representatives to pursue voter suppression. It is all perfectly legal.

Democrats need to start fighting this, at every turn. Republicans include voter suppression as a prong of all of their election strategies. If you noticed, the Jon Ossoff campaign had to go to Federal Court to re-open voter registration in the Georgia house race. That wasn’t an accident — as a matter of course Republicans try to stop registration. But, and here is the kicker, this Republican strategy works. Less than 66,000 votes in 3 states elected Trump. Democrats need to stop hating, and start registering.
